With our heads swimming with imminent success, we hugged our beloved guide Philip goodbye and roared out from Pa’Lungan onto the open trails to Pa’ Ukat.
It all seemed too easy as we raced along the trail mentally our first shower and first drinks back Bario. After three short hours we reached Pa’ Ukat and completed the epic trek.
After eight of the hardest days of all our lives, it was difficult to single out any one emotion. Relief and exhaustion were amongst the top, and indeed pride in what we can now look back on as a heroic effort. We started as a team and remained one throughout. We battled against mental and physical trauma and we overcame them both.
