We arrived back in San Ignacio to begin our Canoe tuition. The first day was quite relaxed as we had very little sleep on our rock hard shelter beds. We learnt how to paddle effectively and how to paddle alone without drifting of course. Rapids were negotiated with different success rates and a few unintentional capsize drills took place. Our second day included lots more real capsize drills with varying amounts of upturned boats and people in the water. No real problems were had except Pete was eaten by a Crocodile (well, nipped on the finger by a tiny lizard) and Myles, after successfully getting back in his canoe on his own, slowly sunk to the bottom of the lake. In the afternoon we headed into town to think about our upcoming project reccee for the El Mirrador Trek in Guatemala. We look forward to the next few weeks and the adventures they have in store for us!
